Ann Baker originally developed the Rag cats in 1965 in Riverside, California. She formed the International Ragdoll Cat Association (IRCA) to distinguish these original Ragdolls from the other Ragdoll groups that later formed. I, (Judi Morrison) wanted to follow in the tradition originated by Ann, of emphasizing the disposition and different colors and patterns which makes this breed different from any other breeds.
I've raised all of our cats and kittens underfoot, with lots of tender loving care. This means all of our kittens are born and raised in the house, in a nice neighborhood where we live.
Sometimes the babies are born beside our bed or under the dining room table. The kittens are weaned at 8-10 weeks and they are ready for a new home filled with love by the time they are 12 weeks to 16 weeks of age. This may seem late, but because the Ragamuffins are so long lived, they mature at a slower rate than other breeds.
This breed matures between 4-5 years of age.
I am currently the secretary for the RagaMuffin breed committee in CFA and
I actively participate with many of the other RagaMuffin breeders to promote
these wonderful cats.
